Scheme Details
More than 6000 institutions of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education are overseen by the Commissionerate of Schools. Some institutions are entirely managed and organised by the Commissionerate. Some, however, are being funded through the Commissionerate. The recruitment, salaries, allowances and retirements benefits are all being directly controlled by the Commissionerate. Therefore, it is necessary to support the Commissionerate by providing water coolers, computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and franking machines.
Scholarship for Post-Matric Studies
In 1961, the National Scholarships on merit award for Post-Matric Studies was introduced. It aims to give brilliant but impoverished students a good education. The scholarships were distributed among the various States and Union Territories on the basis of population. The number of students who appeared and passed in different examinations were closely monitored by the Registrars of Universities and Secretaries of Education Boards. These departments furnished yearly reports in the prescribed pro forma by the end of September.
Scholarships for Post-Matric Students of Hindi
The objective of this award is to encourage students in non-Hindi speaking states to study Hindi. Another priority of the scheme was to provide the governments of each state a competent Hindi teacher. Other jobs that required a good knowledge of Hindi were also available and this scheme made sure that only proficient personnel were hired.
Scholarships for Children from Rural Areas
Since its first operation in 1971, this scholarship has been providing students from rural areas opportunities to continue their studies in secondary education. A certain number of scholarships are awarded to each State Government and Union Territory Administration each year.
